FinanceIsland is committed to protecting your privacy. This document describes the type of personal and non-personal information we collect when you subscribe with FinanceIsland and use FinanceIsland's applications. We hope that this will help you to make an informed decision about sharing personal information with us.

1. Information collection and use

FinanceIsland collects personal information - such as your name, you email address, or company info - that you provide during the subscription process. This personal information is used only for internal purposes, especially to target our product development, and product and content customization toward your needs. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

To provide you free trials of our applications and to avoid abuse of these free trials, FinanceIsland retains your personal information for a period of twelve months after the trial period has ended or after your account has been terminated either by you or by FinanceIsland. After these twelve months your personal information will be deleted.

FinanceIsland logs some non-personal data that is automatically sent by your browser whenever you visit a website. These data logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, and the date and time of your request. FinanceIsland uses this automatically collected data to perform statistical analyses of user behavior in the various areas of our website to improve online product delivery and performance. This data is collected only in aggregated form without identifying any user individually.

When you visit our website we place one or more browser cookies on your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. We use cookies to provide better user experience by maintaining user information during a session and by storing user preferences between browser sessions.

One cookie is used to remember you while you browse our website and use our applications. This session cookie is created when you log in and ensures that you can access the correct web pages and applications during your session. The session cookie is deleted when you log out.

If you select to do so, another cookie is used to remember your username between sessions, which is used for easy login into FinanceIsland's applications. Next time you visit our website your username is conveniently pre-filled in the login window. You can prevent this cookie from being placed on your computer by simply unchecking the box next to "remember me on this computer" while subscribing or when you log in the next time. If you uncheck this box, however, you will need to type your username every time you log in.

Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can change your browser settings to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Also, some internet security software may manage how cookies are handled by your browser. Please make sure to allow browser cookies from FinanceIsland when using FinanceIsland's applications, otherwise some web pages and applications on financeisland.com may not function properly.

We may use Google, a third party vendor, to serve ads when you visit some areas of our website. By placing a cookie in your browser, Google may use non-personal information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like to have more information about this practice and would like to know your choices about not having this information used by Google, please visit Google's advertising and privacy policy . Should we use other advertising companies to serve ads in the future, we will post links to those companies' advertising and privacy policies in this Privacy Policy.

FinanceIsland may retain any user communication, whether sent as an email or through other means. We may retain those communications to process your inquiries, address your requests, and improve our offerings.

FinanceIsland does NOT collect or store any of your analysis data. Your data may need to be transmitted to and from FinanceIsland servers if you save an analysis or chart, open a saved analysis, export to Excel, or print the analysis. In all these instances your analysis data needs to be transmitted to FinanceIsland servers to be processed into the required format and then the new format is transmitted back to your PC and is made available to you in the browser. During all these transactions your data is encrypted with a digital certificate. FinanceIsland is using the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) allowing for secure online transactions, similar to those used in online banking.

2. Information sharing

FinanceIsland may outsource the processing of personal and non-personal information to affiliated companies or trusted service providers. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy. We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal information, such as the number of site visitors or the number of users of a particular application. Such information does not identify any user individually.

FinanceIsland may be required to share personal and non-personal information with third parties to (1) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (2) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (3) protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of FinanceIsland, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.

Should FinanceIsland become involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its assets, we will provide notice to you before personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

3. Communication

If you have opted to receive email notifications from FinanceIsland, we will inform you of new developments, including new products and new product features. Whether or not you have opted to receive email notifications from FinanceIsland, we may contact you for administrative purposes such as account status, changes to the Privacy Policy, or changes to the Terms of Service. You can always select to opt out of further email notifications on the User profile page, except for administrative purposes.

4. Your choices

When you subscribe with FinanceIsland, we ask you to provide personal information. This information will be used according to this Privacy Policy and according to any specific instructions provided during the subscription process. Should we intend to use your personal information in any different manner, we will ask for your consent prior to such use. If you do not consent to such a change, we will offer you an easy option to opt out of the use of personal information for those other purposes.

You can access your personal information on the User profile page where you can correct your personal information if it is inaccurate. You need to log in into your account on financeisland.com in order to access this User profile page.

5. Applicability

This Privacy Policy applies to web pages and applications owned and operated by FinanceIsland. FinanceIsland may present on our web pages customized content and advertising from third parties. We do not exercise control over these third parties. Once you visit those third parties you are bound by their privacy policies. FinanceIsland's Privacy Policy is then no longer applicable.

6. Changes to this policy

Web technologies and business models are rapidly developing and may also require changes to this Privacy Policy. However, we will not reduce your rights under this Policy without your explicit consent. We will post any changes to this Policy on this web page. In case of significant changes, we will also notify you of these changes by email.
